CHOCOLATEY PECAN PIE SQUARES 
COOKIE BASE:

1 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter, softened

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients in small bowl, cutting in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Press evenly into greased and floured 9"x13" pan. Bake 7 minutes.

PECAN PIE FILLING:

12 oz. pkg. milk chocolate chips
1 c. corn syrup
3 eggs
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped pecans
Whipped cream or ice cream (opt.)

Melt chocolate chips over hot water; set aside. In large bowl combine syrup, eggs, sugar, butter and salt; beat well. Blend in melted chocolate. Stir in pecans. Pour filling over warm cookie base. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool. Cut into squares and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
