CUSTARD CASSEROLE | |
4 slices bread (crusts off) 1 med. onion, chopped 2 c. grated Cheddar cheese 1 1/2 c. milk or cream 1/4 tsp. garlic salt 2. c. ground or shredded chicken, ham, beef or crab 4 tbsp. butter 1 c. sliced fresh mushrooms 1 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 4 eggs Spread bread with butter, place in pan, butter side down. Heat remaining butter, saute onions and mushrooms 5 minutes. Spoon over bread. Distribute meat. Dust cheese with flour and spread over meat. Beat eggs with milk and salts. Pour over contents. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. |
