1 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
5 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. hot water

Mix together sugar, Crisco, molasses, vanilla and egg and set aside. Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon, cloves, ginger and baking powder.

Mix everything together with water and drop by teaspoonfuls and bake for 10 minutes in 350 degree oven.
