1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/3 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. water
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2/3 c. raisins, steamed
1 egg
1 c. unsweetened applesauce

Sift together dry ingredients. Add butter, water, nuts, raisins and applesauce. Add egg and beat 2 minutes. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 2 3/4 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes. Cool and top with frosting.
