CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. hot water
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. cocoa

FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter
2 to 3 tsp. cocoa
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. powdered sugar

Put all ingredients in bowl and beat well. Bake at 350 degrees approximately 20 minutes.

Frosting: Brown butter slightly with cocoa. Remove from stove and add milk, vanilla and powdered sugar.

Note: Use 1 1/2 ingredients for 9x13 inch cake.
