CHRISTMAS FRUIT COOKIES 
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. unsifted plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in water
1 lb. pecans or walnuts
1 lb. dates
1/2 lb. candied cherries
1/2 lb. candied pineapple

Cream butter and add sugar and eggs. Alternating flour and soda, add to butter mixture. Coat fruit and nuts with flour and add to butter mixture. Mix well with hands. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until light brown. I use half this recipe because it makes so many cookies.
