DATE AND NUT MERINGUES (EA) 
3 c. whites
1 c. sugar
1 pkg. dates, cut up fine
Vanilla
1 heaping c. broken walnuts

Beat egg whites until stiff. Add sugar gradually, then add nuts, dates and vanilla (to suit your taste). Drop by teaspoonful on cookie sheet. Bake 20-25 minutes in slow oven, 300 degrees. Soft cookies store with a tight fitting cover. Crisp cookies place in a container with loose fitting cover.
