SOPAPILLAS 
4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
Approx. 1 1/4 c. milk

Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. Cut in shortening. Add milk to make soft dough. Cover bowl and let stand 30 to 60 minutes. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut in 3 inch squares, brown in hot fat. Drain and serve sprinkled with powdered sugar and honey.

Variation: Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Great to mix up dough before church and have friends over and cook after church.
