3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda in milk
2 c. oatmeal
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 pkg. chocolate bits
Nuts, if you like

Cream together shortening and sugar. Stir in eggs. Add remaining ingredients. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, just until set, not too brown.
