ICE BERG PICKLES 
7 lbs. green tomatoes
2 gal. water
3 c. lime
3 pts. vinegar
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 tsp. ginger root, broken up
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. celery seed
5 lbs. sugar

Dissolve lime in water. Slice tomatoes and soak in lime water for 24 hours. Strain before putting in tomatoes. Drain and soak 4 hours in fresh water. Change water every hour. Make syrup of sugar, vinegar, cloves, ginger root, and allspice. Add cinnamon and celery seed. Bring this to a boil. Pour over drained tomatoes, let stand overnight. Next morning, boil 1 hour and seal in hot jars.
