3/4 c. butter 3/4 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. white sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda in 2 tbsp. of hot water 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt or less 4 1/2 c. flour 2 c. nuts, finely chopped Melt butter and butter; mix with sugars, eggs, vanilla and soda water. Sift together cinnamon, baking powder, salt and 3 cups flour. Stir into egg mixture. Add enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough. Stir in nuts. Form dough into 2 inch thick rolls about 4 or 5 inches long. Roll in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator overnight (or wrap in freezer wrap and store in freezer until ready to use). Cut into thin slices and bake on a greased cookie sheet in 350 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. |
