HOMEMADE BISCUIT MIX | |
9 c. flour 1/3 c. baking powder 1 tbsp. salt 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. cram of tartar 2 c. white shortening Sift flour and measure, then sift baking powder, salt, sugar and cream of tartar into flour. Sift together twice more into a large mixing bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture is the consistency of cornmeal. Store in a tightly covered container at room temperature. Mix keep good about 6 weeks. Makes 13 cups. To measure, pile lightly into cup and level off. Use 3 cups of mix to 2/3 cup milk for biscuits. |
