SNICKERDOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together and add remaining ingredients. Roll into small balls, then roll in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Put on ungreased cookie sheet. Then dip a water glass in cinnamon and sugar mixture and press down on each cookie to flatten. Bake until lightly brown but still soft. Bake in 400 degree oven about 8 or 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.
