1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 c. fruit
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. raisins
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. sliced nuts
1 tsp. baking soda in 1 c. hot water
1 c. chopped dates

Sift flour, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Cream sugar and shortening together and egg. Add dry ingredients, mix in fruit and nuts.

Bake in tube pan (greased and floured).

Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 or 40 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
1 tbsp. butter
2 or 3 tsp. hot coffee

Beat until creamy.
