GERMAN POTATO SALAD | |
1/4 lb. bacon (6-7 strips) 3 c. water 1 1/2 c. sugar 3/4 c. vinegar 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. onion, chopped 1/2 tsp. pepper Combine water, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Heat to boiling. Chop bacon and brown. Skim out bacon into water mixture. Fry onions in remaining bacon fat until soft but not brown. Add flour, let it bubble up 2-3 minutes. Add this to hot water mixture. Stir until smooth. Simmer 5 minutes. |
