CALIFORNIA TAMALE PIE 
1 onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 can pitted ripe olives
1 c. cornmeal
1 green pepper, chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1 can whole kernel corn
2 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. chili powder

Saute onion, green pepper and garlic salt in small amount of oil until limp. Add meat, stirring until it is brown and crumbly. Pour in tomato sauce, corn, olives and milk. Heat gradually and add cornmeal. Season with salt and chili. Turn into greased 3-quart casserole. Cover and bake in slow 325 degree oven for 1 hour. Uncover and continue baking 30 minutes more.
