CHRISTMAS FRUIT COOKIES 
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 container Christmas fruit
1/2 c. pecans
4 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, fruit and nuts. Sift all dry ingredients, adding gradually until stiff dough is formed. Shape with hands into 3 rolls. Wrap in wax paper. Chill 8 hours. Slice. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 minutes. (Don't bake these in a very hot oven.)
