RAW APPLE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. sliced apples
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs until creamy. Sift dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. Add apples and nuts. Pour batter into greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 04 minutes.

TOPPING:

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. water
1/2 stick butter
2 1/2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook slowly until thick. Spread on hot or cold cake. Top with "whip". Serves 15.
