SALISBURY STEAK 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
1/4 c. milk
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1 c. water
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. water

Mix onion soup mix and 1 cup water together. Mix beef, 1/4 cup soup mixture, crumbs, milk and egg together. Form into 4 patties. Brown in shortening. Mix flour into remaining soup mix; add 1/2 cup water. Pour over patties. Cover and cook over low heat 25 to 30 minutes. Turn patties and spoon soup mixture over them halfway during cooking time.
