MOM'S HOT ROLLS IN A HURRY
1 1/2 cups hot water
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tbsp. yeast
1 egg
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Preheat oven to 425°F.

Combine water, salt, melted butter, sugar and yeast. When yeast rises to top and begins to foam, add egg. Stir. Add flour, one cup at a time, until dough is smooth.

Separate dough into individual 3-inch balls and place on a greased baking sheet. Let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.

Bake at 425°F for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Note: For a soft flaky crust, rub tops of rolls with butter as soon as they are removed from the oven. For a crunchy crust, do not butter tops.
