FRESH APPLE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. raw apples, diced
3 lg. eggs
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts
1 c. raisins

Cream together sugar, oil and eggs until fluffy. Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices. Add about all at once with buttermilk and vanilla, beating until smooth. Stir in walnuts, apples and raisins.

Pour into 10 inch tube pan, well greased and floured. Bake 1 hour in preheated oven at 350 degrees, leave in pan, but loosen around edge and funnel before pouring the hot orange glaze over the cake.

The glaze: 1/4 cup fresh orange juice and 1 cup confectioners' sugar. In saucepan stirring so the sugar is really dissolved, now pour over cake.
