CHRISTMAS FRUIT BARS 
1/2 lb. dates
1 (4 oz.) bottle cherries
2 c. nuts

STEP 2:
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar

STEP 3:
1 stick butter
4 egg yolks, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla

STEP 4:
4 egg whites stiffly beaten

Chop and mix step 1. Dredge and mix step 1 with flour. Mix steps 1 and 2 together. Add step 3. Fold in 4 stiffly beaten egg whites. Spread over entire 13 x 9 inch shallow cookie sheet, greased and floured.

Bake in preheated 325 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Add confectioners' sugar on top. Cut in bars when cool. Yield: 24 bars.
