KANSAS B B Q SAUCE 
1 tsp. vegetable oil
1 medium size finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 c. ketchup
1/4 c. water
3 tbsp. dark brown sugar
3 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. cider vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. hot red pepper sauce

In 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, heat oil; add onion and garlic; cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, salt, and hot pepper sauce; bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer, covered, 15 to 20 minutes until flavors are blended. Serve sauce hot or warm, as accompaniment for ribs and other barbecued foods. Makes about 2 cups.
