GOLDEN CORN BREAD 
1 c. corn meal
1 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 c. milk
1/4 c. soft shortening

Sift cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into bowl; add egg, milk and shortening. Stir until just blended. Pour into hot well-greased 8-inch square pan or muffin pans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 425 degrees.
