RED VELVET ICING | |
1 c. milk 5 tbsp. cake flour 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. granulated sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Mix together milk and cake flour. Put into top of a double boiler and blend with whip. Cook over hot water until it forms a thick paste, stirring constantly. Cool. Cream together butter and shortening on low to medium speed of mixer. SLOWLY add granulated sugar. Cream well on low to medium speed. When nice and creamy, blend in vanilla. Add the cooled paste mixture and whip on high speed. (You may add 2 cups sifted powdered sugar gradually and whip until sugar is well blended in.) Use a rubber spatula to clean off sides and bottom of mixer bowl often during above mixing. |
