FRANCES' CHOCOLATE CHIP MERINGUE
COOKIES
 
2 egg whites
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Beat egg whites, salt and tartar until very!! stiff. Very slowly!! add 3/4 cup sugar. (Keep beating until sugar seems to disappear). Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips (mint chips are fun, too). Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line cookie sheets with waxed paper or brown grocery bags. Drop cookies by the spoonful on cookie sheets. Put cookie sheet in oven and turn oven off and leave cookies in for 3 1/2 hours or overnight.
