MAPLE SYRUP PIE OR TARTS 
1 c. maple syrup
6 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. water
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
1 baked 8" pie shell or 12 baked medium tart shells
Walnut halves

Heat maple syrup in double boiler. Mix flour and water until smooth; stir gradually into heated syrup and cook until thickened, about 10 minutes, stirring constantly.

Mix a little of hot mixture with egg yolks; stir into remainder in double boiler and continue cooking 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in butter and walnuts; cool slightly. Pour into pie shell or tart shells. Top with meringue or whipped cream. Decorate with walnut halves.
