CARAMEL DUMPLINGS 
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

SAUCE:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter
Dash of salt
2 c. hot water

Dumplings: Cream butter and sugar. Sift together flour and baking powder, add to butter alternately with milk and vanilla. Mix together sauce ingredients, cook 10 minutes in heavy saucepan.

Drop dumplings by spoonfuls into hot sauce. Keep lightly covered and cook 20 minutes.
