APPLE CRISP 
6 lg. tart cooking apples
1/2 sm. lemon
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

TOPPING:

2/3 c. flour
2/3 c. sugar
4 tbsp. softened butter

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Butter casserole and set aside. Peel and core and slice apples. Put slices in large bowl and sprinkle with the juice from the lemon. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in saucepan. Pour melted butter over apples. Add 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon to apples and toss to mix. Put mixture in casserole. Make topping. Mix flour and sugar in small mixing bowl. Add butter and blend lightly with fingers to form fine crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs over apples in casserole. Place casserole in oven and bake uncovered until apple juice bubbles over onto brown crusty topping, 50-60 minutes.
