2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. mashed bananas

Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and spices. Beat shortening until creamy, add sugar and continue beating. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition until fluffy. Stir in vanilla and add flour alternately with bananas. Pour into two well-greased cake pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
