CELEBRATION BREAD 
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. sugar
2/3 c. Crisco
3 eggs
2 c. applesauce
1 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped
1 (16 oz.) can sour pitted cherries, well drained, reserve juice
2 tsp. almond extract

CHERRY GLAZE:

1 c. Imperial 10X powdered sugar (more if needed)
2 tbsp. reserved cherry juice
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. almond extract

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Combine sugar and Crisco. Blend until creamy. Add eggs. Beat well. Add applesauce alternately with flour mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour batter into two greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Remove from pans while warm. Cool.

MAKE GLAZE: Blend all ingredients until smooth. Spread on cooled loaves.
