APPLES AND CABBAGE 
3 slices bacon, diced
1 med. onion, chopped
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, chopped
1/2 c. white wine
1 head cabbage, chopped
1/2 tbsp. caraway seeds (opt.)

Brown bacon and onion together. Add apples. Stir to coat, then add wine and cabbage. Simmer, covered until cabbage is translucent. Add caraway; mix well. Serves 4 to 6.

Excellent with pork or in middle of crown roast. Good alternative to sauerkraut.
