1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. sweetened applesauce
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tbsp. cloves
1/2 tbsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. baking soda
1 c. walnuts

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, beating well. Sift dry ingredient then add alternating with applesauce to creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased bread or cake pan and cover. Bake in covered crock pot on high 3 to 4 1/2 hours or until done. Serves 10-12.
