1 c. dates, chopped
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
3 tbsp. butter, melted
1 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
3 c. sweetened whipped cream
3 bananas, sliced

Combine dates, water, and soda. Mix well and let cool. Add other ingredients. except cream and bananas and mix well. Pour batter into a greased and waxed paper lined 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Allow cake to cool. To serve crumble cake slightly. Fold with whipped cream and sliced bananas.
