NEW YEAR'S COOKIES | |
2 c. milk (scalded) 3 tbsp. butter 1 pkg. yeast 3 eggs 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 2 c. raisins 5 c. flour Heat milk until scalded. Cool slightly. Dissolve yeast in milk. Melt butter and add to yeast mixture. Beat eggs separately and add to yeast mixture. Add sugar, salt and raisins. Stir in flour, one cup at a time. Dough is right consistency when wooden spoon stands in middle by itself. Cover and let dough rise until double. Deep fat fry by scant tablespoons until golden brown. Roll in powdered sugar. |
