CANDIED PECANS 
3 c. pecan halves
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1/2 c. sugar, divided

Place pecans in 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Heat in 250 degree oven for 5 minutes. In 2 quart saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Stir in corn syrup and 1/4 cup sugar. Bring to boil. Boil without stirring for 5 minutes. Pour over nuts, stirring constantly to coat evenly. Bake in 250 degree oven 1 hour, stirring several times. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup sugar and toss to coat evenly. Immediately spread out on greased cookie sheet. Quickly separate into individual pecan halves. Cool. Store in tightly covered container.
