PECAN BRITTLE 
2 c. pecans
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. syrup
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. (or slice) butter
1 heaping tsp. baking soda

Mix all ingredients except baking soda. Cook over moderate heat to a hard crack on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add soda, stirring as quickly as possible and spread on a greased enamel pan; let cool. Then break into pieces.
