ALL-AMERICAN CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES

2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. (2 sticks) butter (do not soften)
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels (2 c.)
1 c. chopped walnuts

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Using a wire whisk mix dry ingredients thoroughly; set aside.

Combine sugars in a large bowl. With electric mixer on medium speed, mix until sugars are blended to a uniform color. Add butter; mix on low speed to break butter into 1 inch chunks. Increase mixer speed and completely cream butter into sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until well blended. Add reserved flour mixture; mix on low speed until dough has formed with a light dusting of unblended flour. Add chocolate morsels and walnuts; mix on low speed until blended.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoons, 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 300 degree oven 22 to 24 minutes. Transfer from hot baking sheet to cool surface immediately. Yield: 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
