OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
3 c. oatmeal
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Cream shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar, using an electric mixer. Add eggs and continue to cream. Add salt, baking soda, vanilla, and flour. Mix well with electric mixer. By hand, mix in oatmeal and chocolate chips. Drop by spoonful onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Makes approximately 6 dozen cookies.
