APPLE DUMPLINGS 
Make 1 double crust pastry. Roll out into a 12 x 18 inch rectangle. Cut into 6 (6 inch) squares. Peel and core 6 apples. Place on pastry squares.

Mix:

6 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Bring to a boil:

1 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. water

Pour dry mixture into apple cavities. Add raisins if desired. Bring up pastry; seal edges. Pour liquid over dumplings. (Baste with liquid several times during cooking.) Bake 30-40 minutes at 425 degrees. Serve with freshly whipped cream.
