IRISH SCONES
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins
2 eggs
1/2 c. butter
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted butter (optional)
Granulated sugar (optional)

Sift first 4 ingredients together. Sprinkle a little over the raisins in another bowl (keeps them from sticking together). Cut in butter to flour mixture with a pastry cutter. Add beaten eggs and milk. Then add raisins. Turn onto floured board. Knead to 1/2 inch height. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet that was dusted with flour. Paint tops with melted butter and sprinkle sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes about 2 dozen.
