THE BEST SUGAR COOKIES 
1- 1/3 cup butter flavor crisco
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
3-1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoon baking powder

Frosting:

1 stick promise butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pound confectioners sugar
milk added to spreading consistency
food coloring to desired shade

Sift together: flour, salt, and baking powder. Cream crisco, sugar, and vanilla. Add eggs. Add alternately, milk and flour to creamed mixture. (Cookie dough is a bit sticky.) Lightly flour to be able to handle and roll out, cut into shapes.

Bake at 350°F for 7 - 8 minutes. Check bottom of first batch. It should be light beige. Cool and ice with following frosting.

Frosting instruction: Melt butter. Add vanilla and confectioners sugar. Add milk a little at a time to spreading consistency. Add coloring. Store cookies in airtight containers with wax paper between layers.
