CHERRY SURPRISE COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Cream butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Add flour, cocoa, baking powder, and soda. Blend. Dough will be stiff. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Push maraschino cherry halfway into each ball. When all cookies are molded, prepare frosting and ice at once.

FROSTING:

Melt 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips with 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1 1/2 teaspoons cherry juice. Stir until smooth. Spread 1/2 teaspoon frosting on each cherry. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
