BANANA COFFEE CAKE 
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas (about 4 med.)
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
1/2 c. chopped nuts

TOPPING:

2 bananas
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 c. flaked coconut (if desired)

FOR MIXING COFFEE CAKE: In large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in bananas and lemon juice.

Mix together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and lemon rind; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Turn into greased 9 inch square baking pan. Bake in 350 degree oven 40 minutes.

TOPPING: Combine brown sugar, melted butter, and coconut; slice two bananas over top of coffee cake and sprinkle with the brown sugar mixture. Broil 2 minutes or until topping is bubbly and lightly browned.
