BROWN SUGAR NUT POUND CAKE 
1 lb. light brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. shortening
1 stick butter
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour tube or bundt pan.

Cream shortening, butter and both sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each. Add vanilla and mix thoroughly.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture and milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Stir in nuts. Pour into pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.
