CONGO BARS 
1 1/2 lbs. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts
5 oz. chocolate chips

Mix first four ingredients together.

Sift together; flour, baking powder, salt.

Add dry ingredients gradually to sugar mixture. Then add nuts and chocolate chips. Put into 9 x 13-inch greased baking pan.

Bake at 375°F until almost done 25 - 30 minutes. Cut while hot.
