1 1/2 lbs. vanilla wafers or coconut crisp cookies
5 sq. bitter chocolate
1 lb. powdered sugar
1/2 lb. butter
8 egg yolks
8 egg whites
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate and cool completely. Cream shortening and sugar; add yolks and blend well. Add chocolate and vanilla; blend well. Whip egg whites and add to chocolate mixture. Line a 9x13 pan with the crumbs. Pour chocolate mixture into pan. Sprinkle almonds over top.
