CHICKEN HEARTY SOUP 
1/2 chicken, skinned and cut up
1 lg. onion, diced
4 or 5 carrots, sliced
4 or 5 stalks celery, diced
1/2 c. dry split peas
Shredded cabbage, if you like
6 c. water
4 potatoes, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. caraway seed (optional)

Cook chicken, water, onion, vegetables, salt, pepper, caraway seed until tender. Remove chicken and debone; cut up and put back in kettle. Add 1/2-pound package wide noodles. Cook until tender.

Ready to eat. Prep time is about 2 hours including preparation of vegetables. Or may use crock pot on low for 8 hours.
