MOM'S BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
6 c. cucumbers, sliced
1 lb. onions (4), sliced
1 green pepper, chopped sm.
1/4 c. salt on above & let set for 3 hours

MAKE SYRUP:

2 c. brown sugar
2 c. cider vinegar (dark)
1 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. turmeric

Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Drain cucumbers and rinse; drain. Put cucumber in syrup and bring to a boil, but don't boil. Put in jars and seal. Makes 5 pints.
