AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD
DAY 1 - Receive your starter. Do nothing! (Do not refrigerate at all during the week.) Makes 2 loaves.

DAYS 2, 3, 4 - Stir one time daily.

DAY 5 - Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk and stir with wire whisk.

DAYS 6, 7, 8, 9 - Stir one time daily.

DAY 10 - Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk and stir. Pour 1 cup of batter each into 3 containers to give to your friends with a copy of these instructions.

To remaining batter add 2/3 cup oil, 3 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 2 cups flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon salt. Mix well. Pour into 2 well greased and sugared loaf pans. Bake approximately 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool 10 minutes and remove from pans.

You do have the option of leaving your bread plain or adding nuts, raisins, or candied fruit pieces instead of, or in addition to, the cinnamon. Also, you may sprinkle some cinnamon in the pan along with the sugar before baking.

Muffins also can be made. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Melt 1/2 stick butter; dip muffin in butter then in a mixture of 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg.
